Day trip from Santiago: Winery visit

Day trip to famous Concha y Toro vineyard, the largest wine producer in South America.

If you spend more than a few days in Santiago de Chile and you like wine, I would recommend visiting here. I bet you have at some point in your life, seen a bottle of their wines in your near-by liquor shop. Concha y Toro winery is world-famous and their winery is easy to reach with public transport from Santiago.

How to get to Concha y Toro vineyard

1. Take the metro (line 4) to Las Mercedes station
2. Crab a bus to Pirqué or a Taxi
The drive is only 10-15 minutes

The vineyard

You can access the winery shop and restaurant without a ticket but I have to say that a guided tour on the premises including a wine tasting is a must. The history of Concha y Toro dates back to the 18th century and the traditions are long. With the tour, we got to known to the premises, to the vineyards and to the process before we got to taste some wines.

In the old cellar, you could really imagine yourself back in time and feel the history in your bones (or maybe in my imagination after the wine). I consider myself a common wine lover, not an expert, so for us, the tour was a great combo of basic information and wine. For someone looking for a deeper experience, I suggest looking for a different type of tour from Concha y Toro website.

You can buy the winery tour on the spot or book in advance from Concha y Toro website.
