What to do in Panama City with a 24 hour layover?
Feeling tired but I didn’t want to loose the chance to explore a little in Panama. I arrived at late evening and head to hostel for a nights sleep. I would have a full day in Panama City, and a flight to catch late in the evening again.
I decided to discover the old town and enjoy the beautiful sunny day by walking there by the coast. Especially in the Casco Viejo, the old district, the contrast between the old and modern was intriguing. The huge skyscrapers painted an unrealistic looking background to the colonial style houses among the cobble stoned streets.
I ate the most delicious meal in a tiny corner bar in the old town. The seating was outside on the sidewalk and I was accompanied only by locals. I watched other tourists passing by and looking at me behind the shiny windows of a fancy little restaurant. I was happy with my choice, the service was heartwarming, the food plenty and good, and the price friendly for a budget traveller.

Next time, I’ll be sure to spend more time in Panama and escape the city to discover its natural wonders.
