So I took my boyfriend rafting as a birthday surprise for him. Or it was almost a surprise until I just couldn’t keep my mouth shut anymore a few days before the d-day.
Cajón del Maipo is just outside of Santiago and it offers a large variety of outdoor activities. It is easy to reach, don’t miss it!
We had an awesome time. Outside of the tourist season, we got a private rafting experience in the beautiful river surrounded by the Andes. The water was freezing cold but that didn’t slow us. The company had proper wetsuits and other gear to keep us comfortable. We even got a chance to learn to manage the back oars what are used to steer and propel the rafts. Fun stuff!
You can reach San Jose de Maipo easily from Santiago with a combo of metro and a collectivo. It’s about 1,5 hours away.
Was such fun experience to try rafting the first time, but we had no energy left for B-day dinner outside. Instead, the day was finished with some pizza and a movie in the coziness of our home.
